Christine Morton was born in Glasgow, Scotland. When she was nine her family immigrated to Canada and settled in West Vancouver, British Columbia. From an early age she was fascinated with the beauty and texture of silk and antique lace and her private collection became one of the largest in Canada and the cornerstone of her thriving lingerie business.
Following her fashion design studies at Columbia College in Vancouver, Christine opened a custom-design business specializing in silk lingerie. The one-of-a-kind creations soon developed into a limited edition collection and in 1973, with the label Christine and Company, she launched a line of silk lingerie in Canada.
The line expanded to include heirloom quality silk blouses, silk and lace dresses and Bridal gowns. Christine became famous for her romantic, Victorian inspired designs. Her Lingerie, Trousseau and Bridal Collections were in all of North America’s most prestigious shops. At home in West Vancouver, her “Special Order” Bridal business drew customers from around the world.
After 30 years in business, Christine continues the dedication to detail and quality workmanship that is her signature. Her fascination and love of exquisite laces and textured silks remains her design inspiration. Christine continues to work with many of the world's oldest manufacturers to reproduce antique laces and searches the world for, as well as designs her own unique, exotic textured fabrics.
Today, Christine’s pieces are sold world wide. Her designs and fabrics are sought after by specialty shops and catalogues for exclusive “Private Label” collections. Her private label customer list includes many well known names, some of whom have been collecting her pieces since the beginning.
The Christine Collection has been acknowledged for excellence in many areas. Christine has been a recipient of the Matinee Fashion Foundation Grant for six consecutive years since 1997.
Christine Vancouver, with its diverse Collection of timeless romantic designs, textured silks and unique prints is a favorite among the media. The line can be seen in the pages of Vogue, InStyle, WWD, Modern Bride, Cosmopolitan, and Glamour to name a few.
